Lab Director
Dr. Lucy Shih Ju HSU
I received my Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. I continued to pursue my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at HKU and work as a local educational psychologist serving local kindergartens and primary schools for several years. My research interests focus on understanding children's language and literacy development in early childhood and exploring the relationship between children's neural and behavioral development through educational neuroscience. I am also a trained MBCT Teacher (Foundational Training by OMC and HKCFM), .b Foundation teacher (MiSP), MYMind program teacher and AMT Eline Snel Method teacher. For my clinical practices, I regularly provide mindfulness workshops to students, parents, and teachers.

Mandy Wong
Hello, I am Mandy, a research assistant of Dr. Hsu. I graduated from Simon Fraser University in Canada with a Bachelor Degree of Arts, Majoring in Psychology. I am currently a student at Hong Kong University, studying Master of Social Science in the Field of Mental Health. I’m excited to be a team member in the Children Language and Learning (ChiLL) laboratory. I am passionate to be involve with projects in helping children with special needs.
Mavis Wong
Hi I am Mavis. I graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with the Bachelor Degree in Chinese. I am glad to be the research assistant in the ChiLL Lab. I am interested in morden Chinese Literature and teaching children Chinese in a fun way. I am also interested in understanding the development of children with special education needs.

Hello, I am Hera. I am an undergraduate student studying at Hong Kong Baptist University. I am glad to become one of the team members in the Child Language & Learning (ChiLL) Laboratory. My research interests focus on specific learning difficulties, especially on Chinese Language Education, and the associated cognitive processes.
Yoanna Li
Hello, I am Yoanna. I graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor Degree of Science, majoring in Environment Science. I am now a student at Hong Kong University, studying for a Master of Social Sciences in the field of Psychology. I am currently working on a project about free play and autistic children. I am super excited to be a part of the team.

Grace Shin
Hello, I am Grace, an undergraduate of The University of Hong Kong, majoring in Linguistics. I am glad to be part of the team in the Children Language and Learning (ChiLL) Laboratory. My research interests centre on the learning behaviour and language acquisition of children with special needs. Besides, I love teaching children English with creativity and innovation.

Matthew Lee
Hi! I am Matthew Lee, a rising senior at Hong Kong International School. I became interested in looking at education development after working with children through volunteering at a local NGO, as well as taking a psychology class at school. I’m super excited to be joining CHILL lab and exploring more about how learning happens in younger kids.
Edelweiss Lau
Hello, I am Edelweiss! I am currently a Year 2 Social Sciences student majoring in Psychology and Counselling at the University of Hong Kong. I am grateful to be a part of the team, and I hope to explore my interests and gain some hands-on experience in psychology-related research in ChiLL Lab.
